Piotr Miklashevich: Union State Constitutional Court will be set up only after constitution is adopted
To create the Constitutional Court the Belarus-Russia Union State needs to adopt the constitution first, Piotr Miklashevich, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Belarus, told a press conference on March 11.“The Union State Treaty envisages creation of the constitutional court. However, no work on its creation has been in progress as there is no constitution. Legal basis is needed for addressing the disputes in the Union State,” Piotr Miklashevich said.“When the constitution is adopted, then a need for setting up the Constitutional Court of the Union State will arise,” he added.The association of lawyers of Belarus and the association of lawyers of Russia have created a public body to address legal problems arising in the course of the formation of the Union State, Piotr Miklashevich informed.
